The ashes are cooling to spare Santa a hot landing; the treat plate is loaded with 9 carrots and about 5 cookies; the potted, living tree is standing proud and tall; the knitting is all done, wrapped and tagged; sigh.

Las cenizas se enfrian para ahorrarle a Papa Noel un aterizaje comodo; el plato tiene nueve zanahorias para los renos y cinco galletas; el arbol viviente en su tiesto esta recto con orgullo; todos los tejidos listos, envueltos y etiquetados; que alivio!

Getting ready! / Alistando todo!

Well I have a list about 20 items long of things to clean, cook, and set up (or take down). It’ll be a busy two days getting ready for Christmas. Fortunately, I have all my Christmas knitting done!  No staying up till the wee hours on Christmas eve!  The last thing I did was to dye the last cotton hat I knit.  It’s supposed to be camouflage. I’ll post a picture soon.

Tengo una lista de 20 cosas para limpiar, cocinar, armar o desarmar. Seran 2 dias muy repletas preparandonos para la navidad. Afortunadamente tengo listo todos los tejidos lo que necesitaba acabar. No tendre que amanecer el 25 tejiendo. La última cosa que termine fue tintorear un gorro de algodon. Supuestamente es camoflage. Pondre una foto muy pronto.

Almost holiday time / Casi las vacaciones

College classes are over, so are the exams, but I’m still loaded up with marking. Actually, there is just one more class set for one assignment that needs my attention, and then. I can knit freely without guilt! It’s been tough being sick and having so much work to catch up on to get as much knitting done as I had wanted. I’ve actually had to let about 3 gift projects go.

Por fin el semestre llega a su fin, también terminamos los examenes, nada mas me falta una montaña de papeles para calificar. Después podré finalmente tejer sin sentimientos de culpa. A sido una senda dificil con la enfermedad, clases para recobrar, y trabajos para calificar y no he tenido suficiente tiempo para tejer. Nunca le es, ¿no cierto? He sido obligado a dejar 3 labores de punto que iba a regalar este año para luego.

Holiday Knitting / Tejidos Navideños.

I’m not actually knitting holiday decorations or anything like that. I’m finishing up the gifts I had planned back in July. Almost everything is done: hats, scarves, toe-up socks. Of course, I thought of a few people I could quickly knit up another couple of things for, fortunately we’ll being seeing them closer to New Year’s so I can knit after the 25th and still be ready. What does my wife do, however, but put in a special request. It appears that a colleague in the school board would like to give a chicken viking hat to a teacher in a school whose mascot is a viking. The adult version of this pattern was still a little small, so I’ve increased it by one more hat size. She told me Saturday that she needed it by Thursday. Aaaahhh! On the up side, I’m getting paid a small fee…enough to increase my stash or knitting book collection. Naturally, it’s end of term at the college, though, so I’ve been busy marking, giving exams, marking, entering grades, marking, and marking, so knitting either has to wait, or I lose sleep.

No estoy tejiendo realmente cosas para decorar el hogar durante esta temorada navideña sino que casi termino todos los proyectos planeados desde julio: gorros, bufandas, calcetines. Por supuesto, he pensado en otras pocas personas para quienes pudiera tejer regalitos, afortunadamente no les estaremos viendo hasta fines de diciembre así que podré acabar las prendas para ellos también. El otro dia, de repente, mi esposa me pide un favor de tejer el gorro de pollo vikingo para una colega que quiere regarlarlo a un maestro en una escuela que tiene vikingo como mascot. La versión adulta no es lo suficiente grande para este maestro asi que estoy modificando el patrón. Me dijo el sabado que lo necesita para este jueves, aaaah! Por lo menos me van a pagar una suma pequeña…suficiente para aumentar mi alijo de hilo o mi colección de libros de tejer. Naturalmente estamos a finales del semestre en la universidad, asi que estoy muy ajetreado calificando, dando examenes, calificando, calculando notas, calificando y calificando, de modo que el tejer tiene que esperar o pierdo sueño.

Another Scarf Pattern / Otro patrón de bufanda calada

A while ago, I started the fifth scarf I need to make for this Christmas holiday. Once my fever settled down (after 10 days) and the aches in my joints petered out as well, I was finally able to knit again. I’m having a great time finishing all these started objects and I know I’ll be done in time for the gift-giving day. Several people commented on how much they liked the ‘dewdrop’ pattern and the pretty yarn, so I thought I’d quickly write up the pattern and post it here for the taking. Hace un tiempo comencé la quinta bufanda que necesito completar para esta navidad. Ya cuando se me calmo la fiebre (despues de 10 dias) y los dolores en las articulaciones desminuyeron, finalmente pude tejer de nuevo. Estoy divirtiendome mucho con acabar todos estos proyectos que llevo en las agujas desde hace un tiempo y sé que los tendré listos para el dia de regalos. Varias personas comentaron como les gustaba el punto de gota de rocío y la lana bonita, así que decidí escribir el patrón rapidito y colocarlo aquí para compartirlo.
