Happy New Year!! / Feliz Año Nuevo

Filed under: Hats, Knitting — jigraknits @ 8:37 pm
Everyone being in education in one form or another, our family finds the first Tuesday after Labour Day is our ‘new year’. We make new year’s resolutions, have a nice dinner the night before and another nice meal the day of. We celebrate the newness of school supplies-fresh pencils, unscuffed rulers, new erasers, new binders and backpacks. We celebrate the possibilities that the new year holds for us, new friends, new classes (to take or to teach). With all this newness, I couldn’t help but start a new project. It’s a hat based on Knitty’s Tychus, but I didn’t use garter stitch throughout. It’s just on the ‘ribbing’ opening of the toque in mine. The main body of the toque is diagonal brioche stitch. The yarn is something from my stash, worsted weight; would like to buy some new soft merino or superwash, but this more itchy wool will have to do. hat_closeup Como todos participamos de alguna manera en la educacion, nuestra familia percibe que el primer dia de escuela/colegio es nuestro ‘año nuevo’.
