Sock n Splash / Salpicando y Calcetando

On Saturday we celebrated my eldest son’s birthday. His choice of location – Niagara Fallsview Waterpark. It’s a huge complex built on the top of a 6 story parking garage. We had a blast! There were tube slides, mat slides, body slides, a big splash pad with a multi-tiered climbing apparatus filled with spray guns and tilting buckets and more slides, a wave pool and more fun. We were there for 11 hours and then we collapsed with fatigue once home. My sock project for calcetines.wordpress.com came along and stayed dry, but I completed the heel-turning while there.A few beach chairs over from where I was knitting was a grandmotherly woman crocheting. When our glances met, we smiled and immediately she came over to see what I was making. Maria (a Nona from Italy) had never seen toe-up socks before and she was very exciting about the possiblities. She was crocheting a lovely lace shawl out of this amazing cornflower blue cotton, but I never did get to see the ball band to find out what it was. I had a print out of Widdershins toe-up sock pattern with me by chance, so I gave her that copy as she really wanted to try some kind of toe-up sock.

El Sabado celebramos el cumpleaños de mi hijo mayor. El sitio de la fiesta lo escojió él, el parque acuático Niagara Fallsview. Es un complejo gigantesco construido encima de un parqueadero de 6 pisos. Lo pasamos de maravilla. Habian deslizaderos para tubos neumáticos, toboganes y sin aparato también. Una zona tenia un conjunto de mallas, barras y escaleras trepadoras con juegos de agua y toboganes menos intensos, y tambien una piscina con olas. Pasamos once horas jugando y despues nos caimos rendidos a la cama. Mi proyecto para calcetines.wordpress.com estaba con nosotros y se mantuvo sequito, pero logré terminar el talón entre mojaderas con los hijos.A la distancia de dos o tres sillas playeras, estaba una mujer que aparentaba ser abuelita y estaba tejiendo un chal a ganchillo. Al vernos el uno al otro nos sonriemos y comenzamos a hablar. Maria (una nona de Italia), reconoció inmediatamente que tejía un calcetín, pero nunca habia visto una hecha comenzando en la puntera y se animó mucho. Le dí una copia del patrón ‘Widdershins‘ que tenía conmigo. El chal que ella tejía era de un algodon suavecita y de un azul claro bellísimo.   Blogalaxia Tags: punto tejer patrones+gratis
